Today is Saturday. Yesterday was a difficult day, with our first real experience of death and hopelessness. Today is looking hopeful. Here's a picture of one of our patients who was very ill with a small bowel obstruction and had 2 abdominal surgeries. He is up and out of bed and looking very happy now.

Kristen, Kavara, Tracey and I went to a local "restaurant" for lunch in town. We had rice balls and soup. The women cook the food over fires on the ground and there are a couple picnic tables for eating. Notice the absence of silverware.

Here are Baba and Gago, writing their addresses for me. There is a post office in town, which was built in 2006, but it has not opened yet. The nearest post office is 1 hour away.
These boys would like me to bring a soccer ball next time I come. "Football" is the main source of entertainment for kids. I think William and Hannah would have fun playing soccer with them.

Thank-you, Dr. Moerschel, for keeping us so well informed at home. We know you are immersed in your work there, and that it takes special extra effort. We are very grateful.
Just tell me where to send the soccer balls or who is coming next that could bring them!
